National News has its origins in 1946 when a young newsboy named Al Tucci started distributing papers. In 1968, Mr. Tucci sold the business to Benjamin “Earl” Skinker Jr., who focused on promoting the business and maintaining good relations with publishers, alongside managing day-to-day operations.
As the company expanded in the 1970s, Earl Skinker brought in his sons Benjamin “Buck” Skinker III and John Skinker to help manage the business. National News’s quality services, initially provided to newspaper and magazine readers in the DC metropolitan area, were soon sought after by occupational newsletters and trade publication publishers nationwide. This expansion led the company into the transportation and logistics business by the 1980s, and by 1990, National News was serving markets across the country.
In the 1990s, National News experienced further growth through transportation and hauling services for major publishers in the Mid-Atlantic. These publishers required a reliable method of transporting copies to their delivery partners. National News was distinguished not just as a trucking company but as a service that understood the time-sensitive nature and proper handling of newspapers for the marketplace.
Today, National News is the leading distributor and hauler of newspapers and news resources in the Washington metropolitan and suburban markets. We prioritize delivering quality service, flexibility, innovative marketing, and support programs to meet the needs of our business partners, consistent with their perception of value. Our commitment to maintaining a leadership position through advanced technology, continuous process improvement, and cost reduction remains unwavering.
